Description
My Leaf Trinket Dishes are made using real Buddleja leaves, Fatsia Leaves, Sycamore Leaves or Horse Chestnut Leaves. They are available in 4 colour ways: rustic green with speckling (Horse Chestnut Design); fresh green in porcelain (Fatsia Leaf Design); Autumn Red with tarnished silver edging (Sycamore Design); or speckled white with rich brown imprint and edging. (Buddleja Design).
Making Process
Firstly, I press a real leaf into clay which leaves an impression. Then I form the shape into a curved functional dish. I use porcelain and a wide firing buff clay to make the different designs, and depending on the final colour variation I fire the piece between 1055 – 1260 degrees. This allows different colours to mature in the kiln depending on the glaze recipe. The third firing allows either platinum or gold lustre to mature on the edges, enhancing the attractive shape of the leaves.
Useage
I use my own Leaf Trinket Dish to collect loose earrings and rings on my dressing table. They are also perfect as attractive ornaments in their own right, for candle tea light holders or condiment dishes for butter or olives on your dining table.
