Description
These beautiful Maple Leaf Pendants are made using the impression from a real ‘Acer japonica Aconitifolium‘ leaf or ‘Acer Vitifolium‘ leaf. I often forage the leaves from Westonbirt Arboretum in Spring and Autumn. Each piece of jewellery is glazed to reflect the seasonal changes the leaves transition through. In Spring, I am inspired to reflect the light green and blush pink shading in my pieces. In Autumn, I am inspired by the stunning fiery coral reds.
Making Process
Firstly, I use a real ‘Acer Aconitifolium‘ or ‘Acer Vitifolium‘ Leaf to create the leaf impression in porcelain. Then I gently form the shape into a beautiful unique pendant, making incisions in the clay to distinguish the individual fronds. Once air dry, each piece is then fired to bisque temperature (1060 degrees).
The second phase of making sees the application of oxides, underglaze and glaze. These are carefully layered to produce the subtle shading found in the real leaves. A second firing matures these glazes ready for lustre application (up to 1260 degrees).
I use both gold and platinum lustre to enhance and highlight the vein patterns and shape of the pendant. This third final firing is taken up to 760 degrees.

I will then email you images of the pendants I have in stock for you to choose from or you can commission me to make you a specific design.
Product Details
Dimensions: typically 6/7 cm x 6/7cm, 0.2cm width.
Each pendant is threaded with an 18″ silver or gold plated chain, in a charcoal presentation box.
I match either silver or gold chains dependant on the shading of the pendant, making sure they compliment each other. If you would prefer one colour chain specifically (either silver or gold) you will be able to leave me a note in the purchase process. Then I will make sure I satisfy your request.
Care
Please sit in a carpeted room when putting your jewellery on (instead of a room with a tiled floor). Porcelain is durable but behaves just as glass or Swarovski crystal, so it will shatter if dropped on a hard surface. Please use a silver for gold jewellery cloth to clean your chain to retain its sparkle over time.
Variations
Because each piece is made individually, there will be subtle difference in size, shading and platinum detailing, but the images provided give good examples of what you should expect to receive when purchased. If you want a specific depth of colour or variation on shape/size please contact me and I will make a bespoke pendant for you (3-4 weeks delivery).
