Do I need to be a professional artist?
No. The day is suitable for professional artists, experienced makers, returning creatives and people who want focused time with their own creative practice. You may even wish to simply take time out of your busy life to rest, read, enjoy a change of scenery, and be cooked for!
IS THIS A TAUGHT WORKSHOP?
The format is a private creative retreat day. Sonya provides one-to-one mentoring and gentle support, while most of the day is yours for self-directed creative work.
What creative practices are suitable?
Painting, drawing, writing, poetry, textiles, planning, sketchbook work, small-scale sculpture, print planning, creative business thinking and reflective practice are all suitable. Please ask in advance if your materials are large, wet, messy or difficult to manage indoors.
Can I bring my own equipment and what facilities are there?
Yes. Please bring the materials and tools you need. Equipment should be portable, safe, manageable and suitable for use inside the yurt. We provide the following equipment/furniture: standing easel, table easel, glass topped table at window (with protective mat available), chairs, giant bean bag for cat naps with small side table, heating and fan available, wifi, kettle, tea and coffee, filtered water, compost toilet, running water
Can two people come together?
Yes. A two-person retreat day is available for friends, partners or collaborators who would like to share the experience. The price is £595 and gift vouchers are available if you wish to treat someone with their partner.
Is food included?
Yes. A super green smoothie, vegetarian or vegan lunch and vegetarian or vegan dinner are included. Please inform us in good time before the date if you have specific needs or allergies.
What are the meals provided?
We will provide a vegan green smoothie on arrival, salad lunch with hummus and oatcakes, or soup of the day lunch and oatcakes. The main dinner is a vegan chilli, rice, green beans, sweet corn, corn chips and freshly prepared guacamole. Please let us know at the time of booking, if there are any elements of this menu that you don't like. Please bare in mind, we need to keep to this regular food menu in order to satisfy food safety standards.
Can I stay overnight?
Yes, you can camp overnight in the garden by arrangement. This is included as a simple rustic option. There is no shower facility but near-by running water to wash your face and brush your teeth.
Is there parking?
Yes. Free off-road parking is available for cars and small campervans. You are welcome to sleep in your campervan overnight for one night.
How do I book?
Send your preferred dates, your creative practice and what you would like from the day. We will confirm availability and help you choose the best retreat date.
What if I need to cancel?
A full refund will be given if you contact us up to 28 days before the retreat day, minus £40 transaction fee. 50% refund between 28 to 14 days before the retreat day, minus £40 transaction fee.
What if I need to postpone by changing the date?
We will accommodate requests to change the date subject to availability, not less than 14 days before the original booked date.
